Dhaka Weaves is a non-profit, non-governmental organization (NGO) and is a archetypal social business. Per Wikipedia, a social business is a cause-driven, non-loss, non-dividend company designed to address a social objective which, in this case, is economic equity for the women weavers of Nepal.

Proceeds from the sale of Dhaka weavings are used to expand the company’s social imperative and improve the product, service, and quality of life for weavers.

This business model has grown from the work of Muhammad Yunus and others.

Applying business best practices, Dhaka Weaves must cover all costs and make revenue, at the same time achieve the social objective of improving the economic life of the weavers.

Textiles sales through the Tewa Teas and this website assists Dhaka Weaves in its self-sustaining goals.
